Is This You?
Are you a professional person experiencing a career
crisis?
I work with mid-career professionals
who have reached a crossroads in their careers, but don’t
know which way to turn next.
Can you relate to any of these situations?
You fell into a career – after completing
your education, your main motivation was to earn a living,
so you didn’t think too hard about the direction you
took. Now several years on, you find yourself doing a
double take on your own life and asking ‘who am I really and
how did I get here?’
You have reached
a different ‘stage’ in
life - a more discerning stage where you want different
things and money alone is no longer enough. You want
to feel as though the work you do makes a contribution, but
your current role seems meaningless and unrelated to your
life now.
Your current role has overwhelmed you -
leaving you with little time or energy for anything else. You
know you want a better work-life balance, but as a result of
the fatigue you are experiencing you have lost the direction
and motivation to make the changes you need.
You
want to change direction, but don’t know
which way to turn – you have always done what
was expected of you, and you have done very well at it too,
but you now want a more fulfilling career that reflects who
you really are, rather than who everyone thinks you should
be. The question is ‘what? . . .’
You
don’t
know how to make it happen – all
the financial and emotional commitments you have make taking
risks and making changes difficult, and you struggle with the
self belief required to overcome the numerous obstacles between
you and the career you really want and deserve. You are
left feeling frustrated and stuck where you are.
Your Characteristics
Since I have been helping professional people get the
rewarding and satisfying careers they deserve, I have found that
you are more likely to succeed with me if you have the following
characteristics;
You are actively interested in your own self
development.
You are keen to understand what makes you
tick, and are prepared to invest time and money in order to
attain the knowledge and self awareness you need to move forward
with your career and improve your situation.
You are open to
new ideas and change.
You know that doing that
same thing and expecting different results isn’t going
to work, so you are willing to explore new ways of thinking,
feeling and acting, in order to achieve the ultimate reward
of a satisfying and fulfilling career.
You are willing
to take responsibility.
You are prepared
to be proactive and take ownership of your life in the knowledge
that you create your own reality and ultimately only you can
be responsible for changing it.
You are action orientated
and committed to getting things done.
Working
with a career coach is a good start, but you know that revitalising
your career will take some hard work on your part too. You
are not expecting to wave a magic wand - you prepared to put
in the hard work required to get where you want to be - knowing
that the more you put in the more you get out.
